Hey friends! Today I wanna talk about something super big and important, okay? It’s about the 8th Pay Commission and how it’s gonna change things for our soldiers, officers, and the guys who used to be in the army. These people keep our country safe, so they should get the best stuff, don’t you think? Let’s jump in!
Okay, so what’s a Pay Commission? It’s like a big meeting where the government figures out how much money to pay its workers, like the army people too. Every few years, they start a new one to update salaries and all that. The 8th Pay Commission is the next one coming, and everyone’s watching it close!
Before this, there was the 7th Pay Commission, and wow, it had some problems. There’s this group called the National Ex-Servicemen Coordination Committee – cool name, right? They fight for the rights of people who used to be soldiers. They told the 7th Pay Commission some big things they wanted, but not all got fixed. Now they’re hoping the 8th one makes it right!

The Big Problems from 7th Pay Commission
So this group, led by a guy named Venkatesh Narayan, brought up some stuff. They wanted equal Military Service Pay – that’s extra money for army people because their job is so dangerous. But here’s the thing: officers get more of it than jawans, the soldiers who do the tough work on the ground. If there’s danger, both can get hurt, so why’s it different?
They also said, “Hey, give more spots for army kids in colleges!” Right now, only 5% of seats in big schools are saved for them, but they want 10%. More kids should get to study good stuff, right?
Another problem is the pay matrix. Jawans, who fix tanks and planes and ships, are put in a low group, like they’re not skilled. But they can take apart a tank and put it back together! That’s super skilled! They should be in a higher pay group, like 4th or 3rd, not 5th. But the 7th Pay Commission didn’t listen. That’s not cool.
Why Ex-Soldiers Are Mad?
The government didn’t fix these things. Jawans are still in a low pay group, the Military Service Pay is still unfair, and ex-soldiers are like, “What’s going on?” They even went to a big court – the Delhi High Court – but nothing changed there either. Now they’re waiting for the 8th Pay Commission to make it better.
Venkatesh said, “Military Service Pay should be the same for everyone!” Because if something bad happens, it doesn’t matter if you’re an officer or a jawan, right? Same danger, same pay – easy idea. Also, ex-soldiers don’t get treated good after they retire. Like, in hospitals, retired jawans get basic rooms, but officers get fancy ones. They all fought for us, so why treat them different?
And lots of ex-soldiers are working as security guards at banks and places. But the people hiring them take half their money! That’s not right. The government should give them better jobs with fair pay. They’ve got awesome skills!
What’s Happening Now?
Right now, the National Ex-Servicemen Coordination Committee is getting ready for the 8th Pay Commission. They’re gonna push for:
- Equal Military Service Pay for everyone, no difference between ranks.
- 10% spots for army kids in colleges.
- Better pension rules – something called One Rank One Pension. It means if you had the same rank, you get the same pension, no matter when you retired. But there’s still some mess because of retirement years. Needs to be fixed!
They’re also gonna write a letter to the Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, and tell him all this. Plus, they want ex-soldiers to get respect and good stuff after they retire – not just forgotten.
There’s also some new talk! Some news says the government might not fix pension differences for people who retired before 1996, 2006, or 2016. Like, people who retired earlier get less money than others with the same rank. What’s that about? Everyone’s asking, and Venkatesh says they’ll ask the government what’s up.
Some Real Stories
I heard from my friend’s uncle – totally real guy – that jawans are so upset they might march on the streets! And in my area, one old army guy said, “Even after we retire, we’re still fighting – for our money!” So true, so sad.
Also, some big people in Parliament, like Kiran Kher and Suresh Kashyap – he used to be in the air force and now he’s an MP from Shimla – they’ve talked about this stuff. Kiran made a video about it! And Suresh, people say, “Make him a big leader!” He started as a regular jawan, worked hard, and now he’s winning votes like crazy. Super cool! We need people like him to help soldiers.
What We Want from 8th Pay Commission?
Here’s what they’re asking for:
- Equal Military Service Pay – No more officer-jawan split.
- Better jobs for ex-soldiers, not just guard work where they lose half their pay.
- More college spots – 10% for army kids, because learning is important!
- Fix One Rank One Pension – Same pay for same rank, no confusion with dates.
- Respect – Treat ex-soldiers like the heroes they are, not second-class people.
Venkatesh and his team are gonna fight hard for this. They’re even asking us – you and me – to share our ideas, so they can tell the government. Pretty awesome, right? We can help!
Let’s Finish Up!
So, friends, the 8th Pay Commission is a huge thing for our soldiers and ex-soldiers. They’ve done so much – fought battles, guarded us, kept us safe. Now we gotta stand up for them, yeah? The government needs to hear this and fix the problems – Military Service Pay, pensions, jobs, all of it!
I hope the 8th Pay Commission brings good stuff. Let’s keep rooting for our army people. Tell your friends, share your thoughts, and let’s make some noise! Our country rocks because of them!
